Best of the 2006 Season

Oct 20 - RRCA vs. NBCA (Homecoming) : Homecomong Game. The Round Rock Crusaders beat the New Braunfels Wildcats 56-49. Woo Hoo!

Oct 17 - RRCA vs. NBCA (JV Teams) : This was the only JV game that I went to all season. I took lots of shots because of the good light and because many of these boys don't play much in varsity games. I'm sure their parents will enjoy these pictures. (Please add comments to your favorite pictures.)

Oct 6 - RRCA vs. Faith Academy : Somehow the referee association got the date of the Oct. 16th (a Monday) on their calendar instead of the 6th. For a few weeks the RRCA athletic director called to make sure they would be there on the right day. Sure enough, we get there and the refs are a no show. The ref association doesn't answer their phones after 5:00 so there's no one to call. What to do? The athletic director jumped into action and drove to Hill Country Christian School in Cedar Park since their game is 5:00-7:00. She's thinking we can grab the refs for our game when they're done. But, the Hill Country game ended early and the refs had already left. The Hill Country athletic director helped out and was able to supply the home number that got an official who could make the game. And, he was able to call two others. Meanwhile, back at the field, we pass time by listening to songs on someone’s MP3 player over the speaker system, singing happy birthday to the same girl about six times, and asking "does anyone know what's going on?" Finally, the ref shows up and we’re ready to go. We do the national anthem, coin toss, announce the players, and even tee up the ball. Then the teams took to the field … and waited. We had to have all three officials to start the game. About 10 minutes later the other two refs got there and the game finally started, at 8:20 instead of 7:00! Quite an interesting night. Because of the late start, I have a lot more casual shots this week.

Sep 22 - RRCA vs. Heritage : I did some experiments with flash. Some came out OK. What I really need is a $1,500 lens to get better stop-action photos but I don't see me getting that anytime soon!

Sep 15 - RRCA vs. Woodlands Christian : This game started in bright daylight so I was able to take more pictures than usual. (These are the best of over 260 pictures!) Some of the colors look funky as the sun was setting.

Sep 8 - RRCA vs. Hill Country Austin : First home game of the season. We had unexpected rain all night. This is my first try at football pictures.
